Encyclopedia Sound

Encyclopedia Sound (AKA The DJ Detective) has transcended rock-and-roll roots to embrace international musical traditions from Africa, Brazil, and Latin America. I am passionate about preserving vintage music that is fading from public memory; I rarely play music on the show produced after the 1980s. Everything I play on the show is from my own collection. I hope to inspire listeners to appreciate the complex web of influences in modern music by sharing these early examples of synthesis between African and European musical traditions.
