This show focuses on disco, albeit interpreted broadly. The primary emphasis will be on the classic years of 1974-79. However, the show also includes italo, boogie, electro, hi-NRG, international soul & funk, "mutant disco", new wave, beat-oriented krautrock, and related genres.

Some weeks the show will focus on key disco labels (or labels with lots of disco groups) such as Salsoul, Casablanca, TK, Cotillion, and West End.

Some weeks the show will seek to investigate the influence of disco music on then-contemporaneous genres such as post-punk and new wave-- and maybe even no wave! How did Lou Reed end up recording and releasing a single called "Disco Mystic"? How did Blondie's Debbie Harry end up putting out a solo record backed by Chic? Other weeks the show will investigate disco's revival and reinvention in current music.

Finally, some weeks the show will track disco music back to its origins in soul, funk, krautrock, salsa, reggae, West African music, synthesizer experiments, etc.

Steve Dahl, John Travolta, and the Bee Gees not invited.
