<< The Five Quadrants of Portland

5Q's last episode (for now) - to say goodbye we've shared some beloved moments and voices of the past year.

FEATURING:

A speech by Joaquin Lopez of PDX Latinx Pride at a 2016 memorial at Portland's Q Center for victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida. Many of the 49 people killed in the attack were LGBTQ Latinx people, as it targeted the club's Latin dance night. From our June 23rd, 2016 episode.

Segments of an interview with Catrina Van Dyne, a woman living outdoors on the Springwater Corridor Trail, prior to a massive 2016 sweep of homeless encampments there. At the time, it was estimated that up to five hundred people lived along the trail. I spoke with Catrina & others at the Clackamas Service Center for our July 28th, 2016 episode.

Two Muslim Portlanders - Melika Belhaj, a Moroccan artist & advocate, and Fatmah Worfeley, an African-Palestinian youth organizer - discussing colorism & anti-blackness in the larger Muslim community. Part of a wide-ranging conversation following Portland airport protests against the Trump administration's attempted travel & refugee restrictions impacting Muslim-majority countries, widely referred to as a Muslim ban. From our February 2nd, 2017 episode.

Thanks for listening. <3
