<< The Common Good

The this week is the first in a two-part series highlighting Re-Imagined Radio, in what has become, quite the annual event in Vancouver.  Starting back in 2013, Re-imagined Radio considers how radio dramas and other programs from the so-called "Golden Age of Radio" in the 30s, 40s, and 50s, were originally created, communicated, and consumed as a form of storytelling, and how they might be re-imagined as live literary-media art and performance for contemporary audiences.  Re-Imagined Radio is both creative and community-facing as it engages voice actors, sound artists, and others to realize each performance.  Led by with Washington State University Vancouver's John Barber, Re-imagined Radio has become a anxiously anticipated annual event with episodes like The Lone Ranger, Dracula, DB Cooper, and a Christmas Carol - all performed by live voice actors in front of a live studio audience at the Kiggins Theatre. Today's program is a live performance held at the Kiggins Theater of War of the Worlds from October 30, 2018 - the 80th anniversary of the original broadcast dramatization by Orson Wells and the Mercury Theatre in 1938.
