Cara Stacey and Friends || 10/3/21 || Guitar and Other Machines

Join DJ Steena for a one hour exploration of South African musician and composer Cara Stacey. You'll hear African musical bows such as the Uhadi Calabash Bow and the Umrhubhe played in traditional ways and in new improvisations, as well as hearing collaborators of Cara's playing their own solo projects that divert from any of these kind of sounds. Collaborators include Shabaka Hutchings, Ruth Goller, Crewdson, and more.

The Guitar and Other Machines leverages the freeform format of noncommercial radio to get the music and sounds created by underrepresented and lesser known artists into unsuspecting ears as an ongoing audio art project always erring on the experimental.
