Standing on the Sea-Weed Water
Welcome to the Textbook Committee revised and I'm your pal DJ Snacks - although this is not my voice. Spoiler. I lost my voice this weekend and am giving it a little break, but I could not miss this show. Today, from FortFort Studios via X-Ray FM, we have a special show for a special lady! I dedicate this show to my lady in LA, Lisa, who will be celebrating a big day when this show airs. I usually shuttle myself to the big city during this time, but the stars were not aligned this year. But I celebrate her every second because I love her so much, and I made her this show. And hopefully, I can celebrate her with her in May by a pool. Fingers Crossed.
Historically, the Textbook Committee was Lisa and I, in a scuzzy mudroom in a Portland rental party house in 2002. We just got this huge house and were looking for a roommate. Then we found Sam! And Sam brought a radio station. That is how KPRA (Portland Radio Authority)was born. Years and different locations went by, and even a little run-in with the FCC...and thus, XPRA was out and XRAY came in to save Portland from bad radio. Thanks, XRAY!
But back to 2002. every Friday night, Lisa and I would play records as we were getting ready for the night. Sometimes we would play songs in sync and sometimes we would battle, but we always played the songs for each other no matter who was listening. So, today I will play music for her. This is for Lisa in my Committee...enjoy!
