The Case of the Okaidja Afroso Interview
Today is a special treat, music lovers:
I am interviewing Okaidja Afroso, an African musical artist who was born and raised in Ghana, but who currently lives and performs right here in Portland!
The first hour of today's show will be devoted to Okaidja's music and his personal history. We'll discuss how Okaidja decided to settle in Portland, what he thinks about living in the US, and we'll hear songs from Okaidja's just-released CD "The Palm Wine Sea" on Portland's Ibori Records.
The second hour of today's show will be devoted to the music, history, and culture of Ghana. This will be a chance for listeners to get a first hand account of growing up in Ghana, and we'll also hear selections from Okaidja's collection of African music.
A reminder today of how good it is to live in a city that supports an African roots music scene... and that supports independent community radio. Thank you Portland!
