As you've heard, Hugh Hefner died yesterday. As you may NOT have heard, there was once a band called the Lashes.
The Lashes were a once hyped but now defunct seattle band who in the mid-2000s, for a brief moment were poised to be the next big thing..... and spoiler alert, that didn't quite happen.
A One-Hit-Wonder with only one meager hit, the band roamed the west coast, hoping for that life-changing gig that would ricochet them to the next level of rock and roll stardom. That gig never came. Amidst the release of their Columbia Records album, Get It, in 2005, the band was thrust into this weird and very surreal period of getting to sort of pretend to be rockstars. There was hanging at Ceasar's Palace with the cast of That 70's show, There was throwing up in Adam Levine's hot tub, the time the singer ben got Paris Hilton's Phone Number at a private hollywood club, they made a music video that for some reason starred Kato Kaelen, And then there was that time Eric's clothes got stolen from the Playboy Mansion.
A decade later in 2014, Jacob published a brief series for The Stranger in Seattle called "Notes from the Nearly Famous," which revisited the band's adventures in the Hollywood scene they wanted so desperately to be a part of. Among these stories was "The Time Eric's Clothes Were Stolen From The Playboy Mansion," which we revisit today after the passing of Hugh Heffner.
