The Twelfth Case of the Pirates' Radio of the Caribbean
After the heady music of the holiday shows I'm back today with an eminently approachable show: easygoing crooners and dancefloor fillers from around the Caribbean. It's the twelfth case of the Pirates' Radio of the Caribbean.
As with most recent Pirate Radio episodes, I have a focus today on my latest crush: biguines, compas, and gwo-ka from Haiti along with the French West Indy islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique.
The first hour today introduces the Antilles sound, alongside a few country style tracks from Cuba. The rest of the first hour is fully devoted to the unique groove of the French Caribbean.
The second hour today begins with a detour into some percussive, carnival tinged sambas from Brazil before returning to a party set from the West Indies. The show ends today with a foray into some cosmic cumbia.
