Music today from Guadeloupe/Martinique and Haiti, with my greatest focus to date on the Haitian music scene. (Much appreciation for the fine "Haiti Direct" comp from Strut Records label.)
The early part of the show today features that old-timey charm moving from folk forms to jazz. Slow jams a little early today, at the bottom of the first hour. The second hour today goes hot and modern, moving from Latin influences to the unique compas sound of the Antilles before we send it out with some cosmic 80s funk.
