A welcome to Spring today with a relaxed, refreshing set of funk, soul, and jazzy mpb from Brazil. Today's show is the perfect soundtrack for your annual inner rituals related to the return of warm weather.
The set begins with some warm tracks in a middle ground between folk and jazz traditions. We really dip into that unique Brazilian flavor of sambarocksteady in the first hour, before sending it off with a nod to more uptempo jazzy sounds.
The second hour today checks the mellow madness box, with an unrepentant focus on guilty pleasure slowjams. We go out strong, however, with a choice selection of Brazilian funk and disco, headlined by Rio's soul brother number one Gerson King.
