Episode 27 - New Year Jazz 2020

It is time for the last Tropicology tradition of the holiday season. In the last show of each year I play a selection of jazz music from Africa, Brazil, and Latin America… before I even go any further, I want to acknowledge that purists will not be happy with my designation of some of these songs as “jazz.” To that I would reply, and purists would agree, that there is an awful lot of music in the jazz section at any music store that is also not really jazz, if you want to be a stickler. My set today is all music that, generally speaking, could be found in the stacks of a typical jazz section. So, you know, asterisk that jazz in my show today  if you feel the need. In terms of theme, maybe it would be better to just say that today’s episode has some deep and swanky uptown sounds to get you into a pre-funk mindset in the days before your own fabulous New Year’s Eve plans.
