Episode 66: Dance on the Edge

In order to explain the musical theme today, let me start by saying that as we approach this election I can’t escape my uneasy feelings. I want to state again, for the record, I am optimistic about the outcome, and I think we will be safe… but there is no denying that danger is close at hand. It’s a bit like standing on the edge of a volcano. And that is the feeling that has inspired my playlist today… the way I see it, if we’re standing on the edge of a volcano, we might as well dance. So today I am offering up a clubby mix of uptown latin music… a touch of old school today, but mostly a mod late 60s vibe. Somehow when I think about dancing on the edge of a volcano, this is my soundtrack. We’re on the edge of a volcano here, so there will be none of that happy-go-lucky latin music… and nothing with that country tinge today, either; I see this as a formal dress affair, so if we go down we look like the guests on the Titanic.
