The musical theme of today’s show is going to be another visit to the French West Indies; music from Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Haiti on today’s show, along with a few neighboring islands and nations. We will jump right in with some cadence tunes and a few modern style biguines, then we’ll finish the first hour with a deep set of Gwo Ka from Guadeloupe. Hour 2 is more of a dancehall affair, featuring funk and boogie tinged sounds of the late 70s and the 80s. But today also happens to be the second Sunday in July, so I will be continuing out community conversation about race in the United States and the need for police change.
