Episode 127: Arty New Year

We have just passed through the 2021 holiday season, along with seasonal Tropicology programming. Back to business as usual this week as we set our sights on the year 2022. There is a common annual theme on Tropicology every January which is to play you a set of music that is hard to categorize. Every year I save up some arty jazz and other sounds that don’t easily fit into my common musical genres; January feels like a good time to break out these special playlists. Today is going to be one of those sets; we’ll hear a new year dose of arty sounds that defy easy categorization. There will be some rare groove material on today’s show… but lots ot the tracks on this list are taken from recent releases and reissues, so I want to profile those LPs for you during the mic breaks. These are things that are out in the market now, so I’ll give you the heads up.
