Up Above the World So High Episode Five

I had a lot of fun with this one! I looked at long and epic tracks which bring drama and emotion. The charming Beautiful Dreamer from Peter Gordon (Reissue on DFA) is pure 70's experimental New York. This track builds and builds (and builds) and lands on a dime with so much satisfaction. 

I took to mixing most of this show. One of my favorite club transitions is David Bowie's A New Career In A New Town into the original, epic 12" of Temptation from New Order. I never realized they 100% lifted the drum sound from that Bowie track. From there, I transitioned into the future classic, Autonomy by Boy Harsher from the Runner Original Soundtrack. Damn, this track is so great. The minimalist yet catchy (see Mute Records, Yazoo) is my current obsession. If I can give you one recommendation this week, month, or year, Autonomy is it!

From Boy Harsher, there's a lovely transition into No Turning Back from Gui Boratto. I love the drone sound from this track into LCD Soundsystem's All My Friends. Sure, we've all heard the track hundreds of times, but have you heard the incredible John Cale's Version? It really is something!

Bringing it all together is Chord Simple the legendary Broadcast (Rest in Peace, Trish Keenan), and the Dot Allison remix of How We Used To Live. It's one of my favorite remixes ever - the anticipation of the drop is worth the wait!
