It's my birthday, and I am celebrating the only way I know how! Playing a wide variety of hits and misses that are sure to tickle all 5 senses. Starting of with Benin allstars, Ipa-Boogie and the latin sounds of Chollo Rivera. Athens of the North finds itself splattered all over the episode with re-issue delights - including Sylvia Tella and Brief Encounter. A few new releases this week from Allah-Lahs front man PAINT, Glue Trip, Australian psychedelic jazz fusion, and a sweet cover from Barbara Lynn / Light in the Attic. As typical, I'll find myself musing on musical influence, this time it's Jean Gabin singing the French genre of "Chanson" and how we can hear it in the later works of Leonard Cohen. Of course, there is a great Bossa Nova corner at the top of the second half, and the humble sounds of Oregon's own Don Eaton, the Reluctant Mystic.
