It's the last Monday of February and today’s show will be rounding out our month-long celebration of the impact of Black artists on the landscape of popular music. Today we’ll be celebrating Detroit super producer J Dilla and his distinctive off-kilter and unquantized work behind an MPC sampler. To highlight Dilla’s artistry and unmatched ear for sample based song making, each track of his that you hear will be played back to back with one of the songs it samples.
We'll be bringing you a varied mix of styles - featuring artists like The Pharcyde, Luther Ingram, MF DOOM, Roy Ayers, Joe Bonner, Rick James, Erykah Badu, Black Star and so, so many more. Tune in for a dynamic and plunderful 2 hours of sonic Easter egg hunting.
