This episode features the floriferous songwriting of Consuelo Velazquez. She began studying music at age six in Guadalajara, eventually becoming a concert pianist. In the beginning of her career she would perform her own compositions, which she wrote under a male nom de plum, fearing her songs wouldn’t be accepted if people knew they were written by a woman.
