<< Respected LadyLand / Travlin' the Tracks with DJ Action Slacks

You know, often times on vintage records a songwriting credit may only be a last name.  So, every once in a while, after playing a record for years,  I’ll find out that it was written by a woman.  That’s the case with many of the records featured on this episode filled with songs written by the mysterious songwriter Joy Byers.

I wish I could tell you this episode would be filled with interesting information about Joy’s life and career.  Unfortunately I couldn’t find any.  So, let this episode be a reminder of how little consideration women are given by music writers and historians.

I want you to think about that as you are listening to the Joy Byers songbook.
