Episode 230 - Morning Dew
In August of 1962 Bonnie Dobson released her seminal post-nuclear ballad ‘Morning Dew’. Inspired by the 1959 film adaptation of Nevil Schute’s novel ‘On the Beach' the song paints a stark picture of the last two living souls in a world annihilated by radioactive fallout. Covers by artists like Tim Rose, Vince Martin & Fred Neil, and especially The Grateful Dead - and their relentless touring - helped solidify the song as a classic (and one of the most covered songs) in the American musical canon.
