Portland’s comedy scene has been growing by leaps and bounds over the past few years, with local standups finding success in LA (Ian Karmel, Ron Funches); the nationally recognized ‘Bridgetown Comedy Festival’; and the more-accurate-than-we-would-like-to-admit ‘Portlandia’. The Stumptown Improv Festival is proud to be part of this comedy explosion by showcasing the smart, original, and always fresh world of improvisational comedy.

The Stumptown Improv Festival’s debut in 2014 was a major success. We attracted some of the most well-regarded improv groups performing today from LA, San Franscisco, Vancouver, BC, Minneapolis, and, of course, Portland. Performers who are vets on the festival scene raved that “this is one of the best festivals we’ve ever been a part of”. The audiences agreed as well. Both of our Friday night shows sold out and, as the buzz increased, both Saturday night shows were sold out hours before we opened the doors.

Will we make magic again in 2015? Short answer: yes. Long answer: yessssssssss. We’ve got some of the best groups in the country traipsing out here (yes, we said “traipsing”) and are offering more showtimes to accommodate the throngs (yes, we said “throngs”). We’re also introducing a brand-new “Three-Show Pass” so you can a la carte this festival. And have you seen the Portland improv scene lately? Get ready for some hot ‘n’ fresh talent from our fair city. SUMMER IS HERE.
