It's 2008, and one of the last auto plants in Detroit is dying on the vine. The factory workers that remain are living paycheck-to-paycheck but amidst the backbreaking work and brutally long shifts, they have somehow shaped themselves into a makeshift family. Faye, a factory lifer, is the glue that holds everything together. But with less than six months before she can retire with a full pension, Faye learns that management has a plan that could threaten her whole existence, leaving her torn between loyalty to her coworkers or her own survival. Heartbreakingly tense with moments of ethereal beauty, Skeleton Crew reveals the struggle to stay relevant in a society that constantly changes.

Hosannas are a psychedelic dance outfit based in Portland, Oregon. Brothers Brandon and Richard Laws have been writing and performing music together, across a wealth of genres and under a variety of monikers, for over a decade. They have toured all over the world with indie rock acts such as Romana Falls and Aan, but now start their own project. Their work as Hosannas is the sound of two intimate musical collaborators braiding together their musical fascinations, into a single odd and splendid textile. Hosannas' debut album Picture Him Protecting You, due out 7.12 can be described in the duo’s own words, “I’m not looking for a cure for my loneliness - maybe just some good medicine.”

The 5th Anniversary Montavilla Jazz Festival will take place August 18th and 19th at Portland Metro Arts. Experience local artists pioneering new frontiers in jazz. The festival will feature several of Portland’s top artists, including headliner Randy Porter with vocalist Nancy King, Nicole Glover Quartet; Dmitri Matheny and Darrell Grant; Farnell Newton; and James Miley with the Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble. The festival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. All revenue goes towards local artists, operations and the Montavilla Schools Music Fund.

• Tim Willcox | Superjazzers–Tim Willcox’s saxophone sings and, at times, broods passionately and inventively in the vein of Jan Garbarek, as well as modern master Rick Margitza.
• George Colligan | Other Barry–Downbeat Poll-winning pianist and Portland State professor George Colligan leads a powerhouse fusion trio and unleashes a new release on PJCE Records.
• Christopher Brown | Art of the Dialog–The busiest jazz group in Portland performs for the first time at Montavilla Jazz Festival, presenting a set that explores the dialogue between artist and audience.
• Creative Music Guild | Sound Foundry–One of Portland’s most adventurous musical organizations hosts an improvised set with top-flight instrumentalists.

Led by guitarist/vocalist Jessica Boudreaux, the Cannibals initially cut their teeth on the local Portland circuit, sharing the stage and receiving encouragement from peers including The Thermals. Along the way, they released a pair of fantastic full-lengths -- 2013’s No Makeup and 2015’s Show Us Your Mind — on their own label, New Moss Records. Show Us Your Mind appeared on NPR’s Sound Opinions Best of list in 2015. The band has since spent an unhealthy amount of time on the road, earning accolades and adding plenty of fresh converts to their highly-charged, no frills attack.

It seemed only logical that when the band decided to sign to a label, they chose Kill Rock Stars, which has a long history of putting out fearless, female-led bands like Bikini Kill and Sleater-Kinney. Their most recent release, Full Of It, is the band’s defining statement to date. Recorded with producer Chris Woodhouse (Thee Oh Sees, Wild Flag), the LP is one of those massive leaps forward that every band hopes to achieve at least once in their career. Aided by rhythm guitarist Marc Swart, drummer Devon Shirley and bassist Jenny Logan, the 11 songs spark that perfect mix of snotty attitude, unbounded energy, and window rattling volume. NBC selected the track "I Wanna Believe" for their new series, Good Girls, airing in 2018.

Since the band's formation they've had the opportunity to play with some their musical heroes, including: Guided By Voices, Mudhoney, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, and The War on Drugs. They've toured the country with The Thermals and CHVRCHES as well as playing some major festivals including Sasquatch, Project Pabst and Riot Fest.
