XRAY.FM PRESENTS:
Influential post-punk pioneers' 40th anniversary tour!
The Monochrome Set and The Prids at Doug Fir Lounge
THE MONOCHROME SET consist of, original Monochrome Set members, Bid (Guitar/Vocals) and Andy Warren (bass) with John Paul Moran (keyboards) and Mike Urban, who was previously in the band in the early 90s, on drums, The Monochrome Set formed in 1978, and were heavily influential in the ‘post-punk’ scene that evolved after the initial scorched earth of punk. The band’s early releases were on the legendary Rough Trade Label before signing with Virgin offshoot Din Disc. They also released several albums on the Cherry Red label, making a notable appearance on that label's well known ‘Pillows and Prayers’ compilation. Though The Monochrome Set split in 1985 the next decade saw several reunions for both live gigs and further studio recordings, their album release count now being well into double figures. After a hiatus of over a decade the band reformed full time in 2010 and have since toured all over the UK, Europe, Japan and the USA, whilst also releasing five new, critically acclaimed, studio albums, the most recent, ‘Maisieworld’, on the German ‘Tapete’ label in February 2018. 2018 also sees the 40th year since the band formed and they will be gigging worldwide to celebrate this.

XRAY is proud to present Team Human Live! Autonomous technologies, runaway markets and weaponized media have overturned civil society, paralyzing our ability to think constructively, connect meaningfully, or act purposefully. Being human is a team sport, and Douglas Rushkoff's Team Human Podcast and radio show has been the voice of human intervention in the machine.
Join the party, find the others, throw off the yoke of surveillance and manipulation and celebrate the quirky, anomalous behaviors and approaches that make real people so much more than robots, algorithms, or consumer profiles. This is where the conscious beats the automatic - an opportunity to redesign reality on our own terms.
Live, connected conversations, in real time and space, with real humans.

We’re a locally-made, multi-venue music festival coming to Portland on Valentine’s weekend 2019. We bring you a new fest in the form of a large-scale benefit at Star Theater Portland, Dante's, Kelly's Olympian and Valentines.
We're a benefit for vital nonprofits. Wristbands for the inaugural event help Outside In, Q Center, p:ear, Right 2 Survive, Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette, and Portland NAACP 1120 Branch.
We fully embrace and celebrate that this is a revival of our multi-venue festival history in Portland, tapping prior incarnations of NXNW and MusicfestNW, to carry the contemporary torch. What we are ultimately doing is creating an opportunity for our community to come together, to together help ensure the vitality and viability of vital institutions while dually celebrating and supporting our wealth of incredible local music.
Thanks to these rad folks who have helped make everything possible: XRAY.FM, Eleven PDX Magazine, Sizzle Pie, Songkick.com, Vortex Music Magazine, Voodoo Doughnut, MusicPortland, Music Millennium, Phoenix Media, Pabst Blue Ribbon, and Ecliptic Brewing.
We invite you to join us for our first year as we build slowly and get our feet wet (figuratively and likely literally). We look forward with enthusiasm and excitement to presenting the event for many Februarys to follow.

MISSISSIPPI STUDIOS AND XRAY.FM PRESENT THE PSYCHEDELIC & INTERGALACTIC SOUL/R&B/HIP-HOP COLLECTIVE
Tribe Mars is an emerging an intergalactic soul R&B/hip-hop act based in Portland, OR. Keyboards, guitar, bass, drums, three different vocalists, trumpet and saxophone create this bands’ fresh yet slightly nostalgic sound. The culmination of diverse musical backgrounds of all the members has resulted in a unique, raw, old school meets new school, West coast meets East coast vibe that’ll be sure to have you groovin’.
Willamette Week's Best New Band Poll of 2018 described the Tribe's sound as "An alternate timeline where the Roots spurn Jimmy Fallon to become the house band at the Goodfoot." And, 2018 is set to be a big year for Tribe Mars as they prepare to release their debut, self-titled album this summer.
