As part of Summer Arts on Main Street, Portland’5 Centers for the Arts volunteers present the Noontime Showcase concerts every Wednesday in July and August. The free series continues on July 22, 2015 at 12 PM with Pendulum Aerial Arts. The performance will be held in downtown Portland on Main Street, between southwest Broadway & Park Ave., next to Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
Under the direction of Suzanne Kenney, Pendulum has been an innovator in both aerial performance and education in the United States, mixing dance, acrobatics, theatre and storytelling with contemporary circus arts. Pendulum’s productions create a stunning visual journey for audiences that break the barriers of traditional art forms and fuse mixed genres while weaving artistically compelling stories that inspire and entertain audiences and performers alike. Today, motivated by a passion for telling stories and inspiring youth, the company collaborates with cross-disciplinary performers to create new works ranging from vaudeville style entertainment to narrative-driven contemporary productions. Visually stunning and emotionally moving, Pendulum’s work is a window into strength, beauty, joy, and the desire to take risks. The company has created twenty original productions, most notably Crimson Cabaret, Around Midnight and High Art, its current touring production. Pendulum embarked on its first national tour during the 2011-12 season. http://pendulumaerialarts.org/

Come see Australian indie-pop 4 piece Dick Diver!
Dick Diver are a four-piece from Melbourne Australia renowned for their catchy songs, onstage charm and wry humour. Formed in 2008 with guitarists Rupert Edwards and Alistair McKay, drummer Steph Hughes (Boomgates) and bassist Al Montfort (Total Control, UV Race, Lower Plenty et al) they’re finally bringing their songs to the USA and Canada this July in the wake of their new album Melbourne, Florida.
A wide-ranging and diverse album, Melbourne, Florida is simultaneously smoother and more eccentric than their previous world-conquering efforts Calendar Days (2013) and New Start Again (2011). Recorded in an old barn on Australia's shipwreck coast with long-time collaborator Mikey Young, the man-myth behind such rock juggernauts as Total Control and Eddy Current Suppression Ring, the atmosphere and intoxication shine through in warm horn sections, aching melodies, and such memorable lines as ‘Europe’s fucked probably’, ‘there’s sick on your lapel, Daddy-o’, or ‘don’t get a gun / talk to a counsellor’. Come down and boogie people.
Melbourne, Florida, is out now on US label Trouble In Mind and in Australia, New Zealand and Japan by Chapter Music.
Noah Fence will be at Ground Kontrol Classic Arcade & Bar (511 NW Couch) playing a selection of records from the 80's. 21 & Over, No Charge at the door
Earth was formed in Olympia, Wa. In 1989 by Dylan Carlson, with an ever evolving line up including Slim Moon (Kill Rock Stars founder), Joe Preston (Melvins) and many others. After moving to Seattle and signing to Sub Pop in 1990 they would release 3 full lengths and an EP including "Earth 2". Considered by many a definitive statement of the drone triumphant, others have described it as "the inevitable result of the damage done by downers to perception of time". Whichever the case, its influence is undeniable.

Portland’5 Centers for the Arts and ArtBar & Bistro continues the 10th year of its popular summer concert series, Music on Main Street, with a performance of Joey Porter’s Tribute to Stevie Wonder. The free show will take place on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 5 PM. The performance will be held in downtown Portland on Main Street, between Southwest Broadway & Park Ave., next to Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
Joey Porter, originally known as the front man for the acclaimed Portland jazz/funk group, Porterhouse, now leads a new group of six musicians in covering popular 60s and 70s soul artists. Following the initial success of the tribute group’s sold-out Herbie Hancock and the Headhunter cover shows, they began performing some of the era’s greatest hits by Meters, Sly Stone, and more recently Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder.
