Have an event coming up you’re looking to spread the word about?

Send an email to info@xray.fm to see how we can help!

When emailing please include:

  1. Any relevant info about the event (dates/times, location, ticket links, info sheets etc.)
  2. What you're looking for from us, preferably in the subject or early in the email.* This could be things like being a media sponsor, paid underwriting packages, inviting us to attend, PSAs* AV services, getting an on-air interview, booking an XRAY DJ, having us be present there, etc.

Timeline: For those new to working with us, without an established event promotion relationship or agreement, we need to receive your submission at least three weeks prior to your event for potential inclusion on our events calendar, and preferably six weeks if you are interested in a radio spot about your event (i.e. underwriting). We are unlikely to consider last minute requests.

Please Note: We have a very limited capacity and unfortunately cannot accommodate all requests. The clearer your ask and the more obvious of a fit with our programming and/or mission, the more likely we'll prioritize it. We unfortunately cannot respond to every request, but welcome you nudging/following up with us to get it on our radar if it's a good fit and we haven't replied.

*Only nonprofits and/or things benefitting the wider community (such as something like demonstrations, disaster relief, mutual aid campaigns, etc.) are eligible for PSAs typically, with anything else being up to our discretion and typically done on media trade, paid campaigns, or as an act of good will because we feel strongly about something. All scripts need to be approved by us for our FCC compliance standards--even if a recorded file already exists.

Pity Party (Girls Club) is the musical project of American artist, musician, and songwriter Julian Isaac A. Hailing from the Inland Empire region of Southern California, Julian launched the project in 2014 during his sophomore year of high school. That same year, the debut EP Tired gained significant online traction, paving the way for subsequent releases like Healing Process and I'm Sorry I'm Like This. These projects delivered fan-favorite tracks such as "Yellow" and "I Hope You're Doing Okay," solidifying Pity Party's presence in the indie rock scene.

After a four-year hiatus, Pity Party (Girls Club) returned in 2022 with the highly acclaimed album Hard Times/Bad Trips, featuring hits like "I Hope That u Think of Me," which has amassed over 100 million streams on Spotify. In 2024, Pity Party released their latest album, Even Though I Can't Sleep..., a hauntingly introspective work that delves into themes of longing, sleepless nights, and self-reflection. Standout tracks like "Echoes in the Dark" and "Moonlit Silence" have received widespread acclaim, further cementing Julian's reputation as a poignant storyteller in the indie rock world.

Known for blending raw emotion with a simplistic yet innovative approach to music and art, Pity Party (Girls Club) continues to evolve, captivating audiences and shaping the indie rock landscape.

21 + // Show 8 PM // Tickets $40

From the Closet → Ice → Dance floor. A Night of Party Boy Anthems & Club Hits.

But what does it mean? Well, thanks to Redditor 1hot-poe-tay-toe here is a review of their experience, a traveling club style Heated Rivalry party,

"Back with my review. I am going to go deep for anyone who does not “go out” but might like to try. Also to mention I am bit (a lot)older and am very empathic/everyone’s mom vibes which makes me a very good observer. With the intent of this review I consciously took on the role of observer rather than participant for part of the show.

Vibes: I will start by saying it was a very safe space. Like extremely safe. The crowd was packed but there was absolutely zero “bro ho” energy, which felt almost jarring. It was weird to be in a club without any predatory sexually charged energy. The established vibe was this was not that kind party. So if you are looking to hook up, this is not that. The crowd was at least 80%+ female presenting, 10% male presenting, 10% non-binary. People wore everything from jerseys to booty/boobs out, to baggy jeans/tees, mesh and leather. The age range was pretty young in my elderly opinion probably 18-50 but mostly 18-30. Lots of friend groups, some couples and singletons. Many female presenting friend groups with the one guy bestie in the group. If you are him your people will be there. There were some obvious fans with emotional support persons who didn’t know what this was all about but wanted to be supportive. Loved that. I think it would be a really great event if you are queerious. It would be a very safe space to explore what you might be feeling in a community where others are having similar curiosities. You may connect with others having like minded feelings or just observe what your true desires might look like in a public space. You may feel emboldened to let your internalized freak flag fly. Representation is very good for the soul. There was definitely a swirl of self conscious not completely secure anxious vibes from some groups who I assume were completely out of their element but wanted to try something new. So if this is you, you are not alone. These feelings are very much part of young adulting. I just wanted to hug all the babes and tell them things will get easier with time and life experience and to keep putting themselves out there.

Showtime: There is the dj on the stage and the large screen showing the fan edits. Everyone is mostly facing forward looking at the screen and dancing. Most people were in their own zones watching and dancing. The sex scenes made everyone go wild. Some people were on the edges and in the back just watching, so it would not be weird if you are self conscious about dancing. If you are a bubble person you can definitely stay in your bubble. It is a very individual experience if you don’t like interacting with people and everyone was respectful of space. No one trying to rub up on you or “that type” of behavior. The music intensifies as the night goes on with the more popular songs. The show is 4 hours the clock on the screen ticks down then it starts and💥everyone goes wild. The dj was pretty good and made an effort to engage with the crowd.

My personal opinion: I felt very old 😂 I look 15+ years younger than I am and very into pop culture and young at heart. I chatted with people in line, made some besties to hang out with, everyone was very welcoming. I mentioned earlier the vibes were very safe. I kind of felt like I was at a kids birthday party 🥳 Everyone was having so much carefree fun and just vibing with the collective love of HR. Very celebratory and was great to see it. I had a really good time and would recommend"

Oh my GROOVEness!  I'm really looking forward to this party!

What better way to unwind & lift our spirits than a night of music from the GREATEST era of dance grooves?! Dance to Rarities & Familiar Favorites from the likes of Stevie Wonder, The Three Degrees, Joe Bataan, Cream, The Staple Singers and many others from a variety of genres.

I suppose every DJ has a different idea for what The Golden Age of the Groove would be. As far as DJ Action Slacks is concerned, the years 1968-1974 produced the greatest percentage of infectious records that not only made people dance, they made them think.

The Golden Age of the Groove is when music incorporated one, some, or all of the following characteristics:
Funky
Fuzzy
Buzzy
Trippy
Blippy
Soul-enchanting
Conscious-Expanding
Kaleidoscopic
Psychotropic
Hypnotic - these records grab your attention & won't let go!

So put on your party threads and meet me on the dance floor to escape into the groove!

EARLY PARTY
8pm to Midnight
Location - World Famous Kenton Club
Admission - $10 - $20 sliding scale

Flame Vintage Vinyl Dance Party welcomes all kind-hearted people, but is geared toward the Portland LGBTQmunity & its allies.

All Ages // Doors 7 PM // Tickets $40

If you know Lacuna Coil then you'll already be aware that every album entry in their storied career is more than just a sound. Each one is a richly textured soundtrack to a specific time and a place. With Sleepless Empire, that place is dark, cinematic, and unmistakably true to the unique characteristics that have given Lacuna Coil such a celebrated entry in the annals of heavy music.

As founding songwriter-in-chief Marco Coti Zelati, aka Maki explains, while the writing process for Lacuna Coil's tenth studio record began in December, the record's real creative birth coincided with the release of 2022's Comalies XX, a 20th-anniversary reimagining of their landmark 2002 record, Comalies. It was more than an epic and rapturously received reinvention of that 21st century classic. It would serve to align the past, the present, and the future of Lacuna Coil as they take their first steps into the fourth decade of their remarkable career.

'I never get stuck in the past,' says Maki. 'Sure, I still love Type O Negative and Paradise Lost, but I also love soundtracks: big orchestral stuff like Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman or even John Williams. If people had a chance to listen to Sleepless Empire without the voice, guitars or drums - the orchestral part - it'd be a soundtrack because it's very cinematic and that's how I spend most of my time. I grew up watching movies all day long, even with my father - there was this massive culture of movies and soundtracks, even iconic horror ones like Friday the 13th or Halloween and obviously growing up in Italy, Goblin and their incredible soundtracks for Profondo Rosso and Suspiria.'

21 + // Doors 7 PM // Tickets $8

XRAYFM and Mississippi Studios present Local Love Letters, a monthly series featuring local Portland area artist. This month we've got:

Guitar:

Portland’s Indie rock band Guitar continues to make heavy waves in the underground music scene with their fearlessly experimental, ever-evolving sound. Fusing elements of 90’s slacker rock, post-punk and beatmaking, Guitar accomplishes multitudes, challenging their audience to think harder about what they actually need from music. The answer is that they need more Guitar. In his book The Trial, Franz Kafka said, “From a certain point onward there is no longer any turning back. That is the point that must be reached.” These words ring true as Guitar releases their second and most powerful LP to date, We’re Headed to the Lake, available this fall from Julia’s War.

Chandler Trey Johnson:

My first impression of him was “this lord has presence”. Tall and vaguely aristocratic, maybe 4th generation in exile. Reserved, lanky, slightly sly. Spacey and wise Aquarius vibes. We cruised to the bar immediately and drank a few tequila and pineapple. He’s affiliated with the bafflingly named DEATH METAL FLORIDA crew of Bellingham lords Careen, AZ POWER which have cells up and down the West Coast. His tunes are rustic and baroque folk rock ballads. Tightly constructed, well organized, lotsa of chords and nary a stray progression. Mostly piano, acoustic guitar, and a vulnerable tenor with a nice waver. There’s a paranoid sorrow to the songs, weary but restless. His album cover shows him running through a dark corridor, but it doesn’t feel like fleeing. Just a constant twist through the maze of the heart, much like the songs. Turn the corner and you hit C#m: Passionate and deep, evoking sorrow, grief, despair, and self-punishment. I gather these tracks were recorded solo, alone, at home and coupled with the Tascam 38 tape glow brings to mind the Brit folk moves of Tony Molina, if maybe more jazzy Canterbury than hit factory Liverpool. Chandler closed the evening on piano and voice, his ballads of toil and tenderness echoing nicely off the musty basement couches. Afterwards we went and got fried chicken and more tequila and went deep on our favorite Zappa albums. OBC Feb 2025, East Jefferson County.

Zidell Yards
10:00am Friday, May 1, 202610:00pm Sunday, May 3, 2026

All Ages // 9 AM - 10 PM Fri/Sat 9AM - 3 PM Sun // Tickets

The One Motorcycle Show is back for its 17th annual gathering, taking over the historic Zidell Yards from May 1st to 3rd, 2026. While the show has seen massive growth over nearly two decades, this year carries a unique weight: with the Portland Diamond Project eyeing Zidell Yards for a potential Major League Baseball stadium, the 2026 show marks a "last chance" to experience the event’s industrial grit at this legendary location before it’s gone for good.

Founded by Thor Drake, The One Motorcycle Show is an inclusive celebration of motorcycle culture, attracting everyone from seasoned builders to curious non-motorcyclists. In 2025, the brand expanded its reach by debuting at the AIMExpo in
Las Vegas, further solidifying its status as a driving force in the international moto industry.
