---
Sir Richard Bishop is an American composer, guitarist and singer best known as a founding member of experimental rock Sun City Girls, who during their 26 years (1981–2007), produced an extensive discography of over 50 full length albums. He has toured with Will Oldham, Animal Collective, Bill Callahan, and many others. His solo work, along with his band Rangda, has released several albums on Drag City and other labels such as 2182 Recording Co., Southern Lord, Southern, Locust, Unrock, VDSQ, and Revenant Records.
Descending Pharaohs are an ethno-psych project, vibing fight scenes of near-eastern films and guided by Arabic/Anatolian electric, spiritual jazz, and heavy psych. Live, they are accompanied by a backdrop film collage that matches their heady Middle Eastern sounds made by the oud, saz, baglama, guitar, bass and drum kit.

8th Vanport Mosaic Festival
Join us for two weeks of memory activism to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the flood that destroyed Vanport - and to honor the community that called Vanport home.
From May 18th to May 29th, the 8th Vanport Mosaic Festival will offer in-person, virtual, and self-paced memory activism opportunities to Remember, Repair, Reclaim, and Re-image our collective story.
---
2023 marks the 75th anniversary of the flood that destroyed Vanport, once Oregon’s second-largest city and the largest WWII federal housing project in the United States. We will commemorate Oregon’s Katrina-like disaster with exhibits, art performances, a reunion/celebration of former Vanport residents, documentary screenings and oral history recordings, tours of the historic Vanport area, and community engagement activities.
Flood survivors are now in their 80s and 90s, so the Festival offers a long-overdue opportunity to honor and learn from their experience. The 75th anniversary of the flood, especially in light of the Covid pandemic and the ongoing devastating impact of climate change, will offer a timely opportunity to reflect on the state of emergency preparedness of our city, particularly on how disasters often replicate and deepen social inequalities.
For a taste of the Vanport Mosaic Festival and its impact, we invite you to watch these short documentaries:
- History from the Bottom Up: The Making of The Vanport Mosaic Festival 2016
- Legacy of A Forgotten City - The Vanport Mosaic Festival 2017

Join us in Portland, Oregon this April for a new dimension of fun at the 14th annual One Motorcycle Show!
⚡Since its inception in 2009, the One Show has grown to be the largest, most-renowned custom motorcycle show in the world.
⚡ The heart and soul of the show remain the unparalleled collection of 300+ custom-built motorcycles that will be on display inside the historic Zidell Yards Barge Building.
⚡ The almost century-old abandoned shipyard smells of old grease and metal work and is the perfect textured backdrop to celebrate custom motorcycles, community and fun.
⚡ Attendees of all ages are invited to come see all the best bikes, bands, cars art, helmets, professional stunt shows, bike demos, Portland food trucks, vendors and sponsors the world has to offer during cushy three-hour time blocks and all weekend long.
⚡ Check out the One Moto Live Music Lineup
Beaches Crew, The Grand Yoni, and Wayward Girls Soul Club are taking their shows out of our basement studios and into the outside world! And when we say outside world we mean the lush tropical wonderland that is Hey Love and their scrumptious brunch menu we count down to the weekend for.
The crew will be doing all-vinyl showcase AND broadcasting live from 12 to 4pm Saturday, April 8th. And of course—you’ll also see an XRAY cast of characters around as we take the excuse to spend time at one of our fav hangouts and grab the ever-important Saturday brunch. This crew epitomizes the kind of tight-knit community we’re cultivating here—and the gems of lo-fi, reggae, and soul they bring to the decks every week certainly don’t hurt either.
We hope we’ll see you there!

see night is a San Francisco 4-piece—fronted by Linda Sao with drummer Cory Aboud, guitarist Pat Andrews, and bassist AJ Marquez—bringing a dynamic show that alternates between hard-driving and dreamy. Cathartic songs delivered with haunting vocals, swelling drums, and atmospheric guitars straddle somewhere between ‘90s indie rock and woozy shoegaze.
After sn's two self-released EPs, stateside band tours, and EU/UK solo tours, the band’s first vinyl was put out by Pavement’s Bob Nastanovich—the “Eloquence” 7-inch on his Brokers Tip Records. 2022 saw the band touring (again) with Vancouver's The Pack a.d. and planning the release of a Nashville-recorded album of pandemic bedroom songs. see night has opened for Bonnie Prince Billy, Widowspeak, The Pack A.D., The Builders and The Butchers, John Vanderslice, Jenn Champion, Sunwatchers, Upset, David Dondero, Rogue Wave, Lady Lamb, and more.
Some kind words from kind people we admire:
"The music is glorious." —Bob Nastanovich (Pavement, Silver Jews)
“I was mesmerized the entire time”—Doug Martsch (Built to Spill), after Boise Neurolux show
"A stunner, dreamy, strummy, and psychedelic, moody and melancholic...equal parts Pixies/Breeders pop smarts and shoegaze-y Mazzy Star haze...slow building to something much more epic, maybe like a girl pop Godspeed...with a lush sonic palette and a propensity for epicry" —Aquarius Records (Andee Connors/A Minor Forest)
"Head-on, severe, and cool folk rock with an indie stylee" —Record Grouch (Jim McHugh, Sunwatchers)

Mississippi Records Music & Film Series 20 Year Anniversary Celebration Presents:
Off The Charts – A Documentary & Song Contest with Live Bands
On Thursday, February 23rd, Mississippi Records will be showing an excellent and touching documentary about the song poem industry called "Off The Charts." Trust us, it's a stunner. After the movie, five bands will interpret song poems written by YOU.
Bands playing are -
- Roman Norfleet And Be Present Art Group
- Lavender Flu featuring Lilly
- LOX
- The Grand Style Orchestra
- Cruise Control.
- Each performing one song poem. A celebrity panel of judges will pick a winner.
This is Mississippi Records' second Song Poem contest. The winner last time had just been out of prison for a week when he spied our ad for the competition at an unemployment office. While he had never done any creative writing, he decided to give it a go because he could use the prize money. After he won, he proclaimed, "I now know who I am. I am a poet." Hearing these words was perhaps the most moving moment of my life.
See you on February 23rd!

"A Radio Christmas Carol" is our re-imagined radio adaptation of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. First published in December 1834 and never out of print since, the novel is no doubt familiar. Ebenezer Scrooge, a miser cold of heart and spirit, is tranformed by Ghosts of Christmas into a kind, generous, and compassionate man. He gives Bob Cratchit a raise and becomes a second father to Tiny Tim. The point: humanity outweighs riches, and brings redemption.
Re-Imagined Radio first offered "A Radio Christmas Carol" in 2013. Every year since we've offered some iteration of this classic story. We like to think it has become a community tradition, bringing joy and festivities to the seasonal holidays. In 2020, pandemic restrictions prevented live performances. This year we are pleased to welcome back The Willamette Radio Workshop, directed by Sam A. Mowry, and The Holly Jolly Choir, directed by Bennett Bailey, for a live performance in Vancouver's historic Kiggins Theatre. Yes, the holiday magic returns.
